On May 20, 2021, the government of the Republic of Panama enacted the Executive Decree No. 197 of May 7th, 2021, and further the Executive Decree No. 226 of July 20, 2021, which modifies the of Friendly Nations Visa Program. The new changes reduce the requirements but also the options for complying the program

  • A temporary residence visa will be granted for a term of two (2) years.
  • You can apply and obtain a permanent residency by filing a second application thirty (30) calendar days or less, prior to the expiration of the initial two (2) year temporary residency.

 

COMMENTS
Previously, the residence permit as friendly nations granted a permanent residence in a single stage after the approval of the National Immigration Authority.
Before, the resident permit as friendly nations could be requested if the applicant was the owner of at least 50% of the shares of a Panamanian corporation.
Previously, the resident permit as friendly nations could be requested if the applicant was the owner of a real estate, with a value of more than B/. 100,000.00, now the value of the real state increase to B/. 200,000.00
With this Decree, the applicant do not need to prove his/her economic solvency. Before, the applicant had to provide a bank certification letter or account statement, reflecting a balance of no less than 4 average figures.
The new requirements to apply for the residence permit as friendly nations will be request as of August 20, 2021.

REGISTERING INTO A PANAMANIAN UNIVERSITY

All high school credits and High School Diplomas must be authenticated by the Panama Consulate in the country of studies and by the Ministry of Foreign Relations of Panama. They should also be translated to Spanish by a certified public translator. Without this, admission to the University will not granted.

All Transcripts and Diplomas, must also have a certification by the Ministry of Education of Panama (MEDUCA)

Once a school reservation of pre-approval to the University has been secured, they must presented to the Department of Immigration in Panama so that they can have a Student Visa issued or present proof of legal status in Panama

You must attach a document with a copy of your license duly stamped and signed by the entity that issues the certification.

Certify the document at the Ministry of Foreign Relations.

Present original and copy of your current migration card.

Original and copy of your valid passport.

Present a blood type from a laboratory authorized by the Transit and Land Transportation Authority (where you include your full name, identity card number or passport number, stamp and fresh signature of the doctor) not older than six months.

Exception: If your license contains the blood type, you do not need to present it.

 

Perform the visual and auditory validations at the branch where you request your procedure.

Immigration Panama Friendly Nations New Law

 

Documents request for immigration Panama  

 For each adult person

Scheduling:  Client / Applicant(s) must contact our law offices with at least 30 days prior notice to schedule appointments & coordinate documentation that is required for immigration processing.  Please note that the immigration application process takes a total of approximately 7 to 9 business days, so plan on being in Panama City for at least that time frame.

Document Validity: All required documents must be recently issued within 90 days (3 months) prior to the presentation of the Panama immigration residency application.

Document Authentication:  All required documents for immigration processing must be apostilled is the best or authenticated by the Panamanian Consulate in the country of issue and deliver in English
