General Application Requirements

  • Applications must be submitted through a Panamanian lawyer (we can assist with recommendations).
  • Applicants should be at least 18 years old. Those below 18 can qualify as dependents.
  • Overseas documents for Panamanian authorities require notarization and authentication by either the nearest Panamanian consulate or through the Apostille.
  • Documents should be recent (within two months of visa application), and passports must be valid for at least one more year.
  • Dependents must present a marriage certificate or birth certificates for children below 18.
  • Health certificate and HIV test from Panama are mandatory.

Available Visa Programs

1. Pensioned Tourist (Turista Pensionado)

  • Suitable for those with a monthly pension of $500 ($600 for couples).
  • Involves various benefits like duty exemptions on household goods and car imports.
  • It doesn’t lead to Panamanian nationality or a passport.
  • Pension proof is necessary annually.

2. Panama Reforestation Visa

  • Invest $40,000 in a sanctioned reforestation program.
  • Covers the investor, spouse, and dependent children.

  • Investment primarily involves forestry, especially teak wood projects.

3. Private Income Retiree Visa (Rentista Retirado)

  • For those with a retirement lump sum, which must be deposited to generate a monthly yield of $750.
  • Offers benefits like a Panamanian passport (without citizenship) and duty exemptions.

4. Person of Means Visa (Solvencia Económica Propia)

  • Requires a one-year deposit of at least $200,000 in a local bank.
  • Leads to permanent visa and potential nationality.

5. Investor Visa (Inversionista)

  • Designed for business founders with a minimum investment of $150,000 and hiring a minimum of three permanent Panamanian employees.

6. Small Business Investor Visa (Inversionista de Pequeña Empresa)

  • Suitable for small business founders with a minimum investment of $40,000 and hiring three permanent Panamanian employees.

8. Panama’s Pensionado Program

  • Benefits apply to residents aged 55 (for women) and 60 (for men), and all Pensionados, regardless of age.
  • Discounts range from entertainment, transportation, hotels, restaurants, medical services, to utilities.
