VISA FOR CHILDREN BORN IN PANAMA
Panama's Visa Program for Children Born There
Through the Family Reunification program, foreign parents with children born in Panama may apply for permanent residence. The process requires the assistance of a Panamanian lawyer.
As part of this process, the following requirements must be met:
- Applicants must be at least 5 years old when submitting their application
- Request and power of attorney notarized with corresponding stamps. Having a legal representative is essential

A criminal record of both parents issued by the National Police or a competent agency in the country of origin
- Parents who have lived in Panama for two years can request their child's police record from the DIJ (Department of Judicial Investigation).
- Photos the size of passports
- Good health certificate
- A copy of a valid passport, duly collated, with at least six months remaining on its validity date
- In the name of the National Treasury, a certified check for $250 has been issued
- A certified check for $800 in the name of the National Immigration Service
- Form for Personal History Affidavit
- An affidavit of the minor's father or mother in front of a Notary (stating that the interested party has fulfilled his or her parental duties)
- Civil Registry birth certificates (valid only for 6 months) for the children
- Notarized letter of responsibility for the child
- Providing proof of address (rental agreement, public services, etc.).
Upon approval, the applicant will receive a provisional residence permit for two years. An application for permanent residence can be filed once the resident has completed this period.
